Kim Burgess and Gary DeMar think they are doing something new to resolve the hyer-preterism / partial-preterism debate. DeMar is at least 14 years too late.
Below is a screenshot of a proposal Sam Frost offered back in 2008 on the hyper-preterist social network I created.
Notice especially the last paragraph regarding a possible consummation:
I like that idea. This, of course, could take millions of ears. Who knows. Plus, the Scriptures that speak of the eternality of the universe are kept. But, there is an end to procreation as we know it. Whenever that occurs is a mystery known only to God. It is the fullness of the Kingdom of God displayed in history - in real time. Biblical Preterism remains intact with the emphasis being on the RESULT of the Second Coming in A.D. 70 bringing about complete cultural renewal ("healing of the nations") in terms of the completed Gospel. Isaiah 65.17-ff literally fulfilled as it is already spiritually fulfilled.
This is essentially what we just heard from Kim Burgess and Gary DeMar on Gary's latest podcast. Redemption Accomplished = Full-Preterism. Redemption Applied = Partial-Preterism.
Folks, don't be duped by this nonsense. And yes, I call it pure nonsense and trash. Kim Burgess not only has the "work" of Christ "done," but the "person" of Christ "done." (yes, he actually says this)
This is nothing more than hyper-preterism. No one in the hyper-preterist world bought into it then (rightly so), and Sam eventually ditched the proposal and hyper-preterism with it around May of 2011.
Been there. Done that.
